The first question that my subscriber asked is:
Is it fair that where you are born decides whether you go to heaven, if most people keep the religion of their country and the Bible requires faith in Jesus?
Here’s a list of verses that address your question.
Acts 17:26–27 “26 And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation; 27 That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:”
God fixed nations and times so that they would seek him. Geography is not treated as random fate. Where you live does not hinder your ability to find God.
Rom 2:12–16 “12 For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law; 13 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: 15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;) 16 In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.
Gentiles without the Law are judged by the law written on the heart. The Apostle Paul is not saying that where you live determines if you will go to hell. He’s saying that what’s in your heart will determine your ultimate destination.
Rom 1:19–20 “19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. 20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:”
What can be known of God is plain from creation; that is about accountability, not where you live. Just because you’ve never seen a Bible doesn’t mean you are excused from looking at the stars and realizing that God created them.
John 1:9 “9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.”
The true light “enlightens everyone”, not just the people that live in the right place
Geography explains what a person is likely to be taught. The texts above do not treat that as the verdict. God placed nations so people would seek him. People without the Law are still accountable for the light they have, and they are not sentenced as if they had the Bible and rejected it. That is not the same as “every religion is equally true.” It is the Bible’s own refusal of “you were born in Kabul, therefore you are damned.”
